POTTED SUMMARY OF THE CLUB'S PROGRESS [Back to home page]
The team narrowly avoided relegation in the last game of Season 27, sending Normanby Revolution down to series VII. This was achieved through a 1-1 draw with Lotion's Eleven, a 3-2 home win against Normanby and later a 2-1 away win against previous VI.243 champions Interme Van. In Season 28 the team managed to finish fifth primarily as a result of other managers in the league quitting the game, but also again managed to beat Interme Van 2-1 at home. There were not really any significant results in Season 29, as the stadium upgrade reduced the amount of cash available to improve the team. Hence another 5th place finish was achieved.
In Season 30, in spite of managing a 1-1 draw with ace team Cazy Lunts and defeating Team BA Baracus 2-1, the team dropped to 6th following some poor late season performances and injury problems. Mendip did however reach the quarter finals of a federation Shield. In Season 31, the team did well in the early part of the season whilst three of the other big teams had a bit of a siesta or left the game. A 3-2 win over Kirik Allstars was the most notable achievement. Finishing 4th on the last game of the season, saw Mendip achieve their first league prize money.
The team never got further than round 2 of the English Cup until Season 32 when they got to Round 3, and finished that season with a best 3rd place. Heading into Season 33 Mendip were the only remaining team in this league of the original 8 when they joined the game. With the start of the Youth Academies in Season 34 Mendip has run a youth squad and league which has dramatically increased the quality of young players coming through and being sold on, thus funding top players for the main squad. However the team only managed to win the league in Season 35 with a last game 3-1 away win over Shipley Town.
Over the years the main problem with VI.243 has been the consistent good quality of most of the teams, which makes for a vicious circle; few teams win the league by a comfortable margin, so invariably a qualifier game is required to secure promotion, and usually against another tough team. It has only been when relegating teams have given up and bowed out of Hattrick that it has created some breathing space for the others.
