Hattrick is an on-line football management simulation that started in Sweden over 10 years ago and now has close to a million participants worldwide. It's a slow-burning, long term strategy game that sees you developing a squad of players over many years into championship winners. In some ways it resembles a web chess game where you log on every few days to see how things are progressing and make your next move. As a minimum it only requires half an hour or so's effort each week and you don't actually need to have much more than a basic knowledge of real football to take part. If you are interested in playing I am more than happy to help you get started, email me if you would like some advice. My own Mendip Rangers team was formed in Hattrick late 2005, at the start of Season 27, and joined series VI.243 in the first season in which relegation from series VI was possible. The team name has obvious football connotations, but actually it comes from that of the wardens who are responsible for the nearby Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For more information follow the links below. The main table is from the "Alltid Hattrick" site and shows the team's progress over the current and previous seasons, best results, top scorers and so on. The team logo, which changes roughly every season, is adorned by Amber, the Ranger/Mesmer in the Guild Wars game account of the Mendip manager. Amber stops for a photo shoot wherever she happens to be in the game at that particular time. |
